San Francisco (July 3, 2013) – Having successfully passed the Transportation Security Administration’s (TSA) inspection of the company’s DCA Access Standard Security Program (DASSP), Solairus Aviation has earned authorization to operate at Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (KDCA) effective immediately. With only 48 private flights allowed to KDCA per day, Solairus’ ability to provide service to this coveted location enables managed aircraft owners and charter clients the ability to bypass Washington Dulles International Airport (KIAD), saving significant travel time in and out of the Washington, D.C. area.

For Greg Petersen, Solairus’ Chief Operating Officer, having an approved DASSP was a natural extension to the company’s safety and security systems.

“Obtaining approval to operate at Reagan National Airport is significant, as the TSA will not even look at you if you do not already have a rigorous set of safety and security measures in place,” Petersen explained. “In order to be eligible, we had to be actively performing criminal history records checks on our flight crew members and restricting access to the flight deck in accordance with our Twelve Five Standard Security Program (TFSSP). Our DCA Access Standard Security Program was then developed to ensure that all crew members were thoroughly trained and tested on proper operating procedures when flying in and out of DCA.”

“An extensive checklist must still be completed for each individual flight and passenger manifest before the TSA grants final approval,” Petersen continued. “There are less than 300 DCA-authorized private aircraft operators in the world, so gaining approval is incredibly rare and we are very proud of our flight department for being able to provide this new convenience to our discerning customer base.”
