The Best Times to Fly your Private Jet to the Best Places in the World

Jumping in your private jet and heading to an exotic location is exciting, but the weather at your destination can have a huge effect on your time spent there.  Below are some tips from us here at Solairus about the best time of the year to visit a few fabulous, far-reaching places.

Tulum, Mexico

Tulum, Mexico

The Yucatan Peninsula

As beautiful as it is, the weather in the Yucatan Peninsula can literally make or break your vacation. Being respectful of hurricane season in the Gulf of Mexico is your best bet when visiting popular getaways like Merida, Cancun and the up-and-coming coastal town of Tulum.

Since hurricane season is June to November, it’s recommended you plan your holiday in late Fall, Winter or Spring. We’re partial to November through February, because it’s slightly cooler but still offers deliciously warm sunlight, tourism and cuisine. If you’ve heard Tulum is all the rage (it is!), you can get a truly authentic experience combined with supremely luxurious accommodations at the Papaya Playa project’s newest luxury Casas.

African Safari

African Safari

South Africa and the Seychelles

For opulent safaris and fine wine tasting, the best place to visit is South Africa in the dry season. Technically the winter season, in May through August, the landscape offers best visibility and better predictability of game movement. Leaves from trees and shrubbery have fallen, ground water has dried and grasslands have been grazed, far enhancing the view for safari expeditions.

Not into 4-wheel drive and up-close encounters with the wild kind? Winter in South Africa is mild enough to take a serious taste of wine in the Cape Town regions of Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, Paarl, Wellington and Constantia. Travel and Leisure magazine has tipped LA RÉSIDENCE in Franschhoek as the must-stay guesthouse. Bought by the owners of safari glamp-style Royal Malewane near Kruger National Park, La Residence might be the most luxurious hot-spot to suit the most elegant of tastes.

And why not hop over to The Seychelles in the Indian Ocean after you’ve had your fill of South Africa? Less than 6 hours by plane, there’s something to enjoy during every part of the year on the alluring, exclusive island.

Northern Lights

Northern Lights

Iceland

Far from frozen, Iceland is one of the greenest, most lush places on earth. This great country has a specific tourist season, peaking between mid-June and August.

Epic in size, stature and adventure, Iceland is home to dangerous natural wonders, geothermal natural swimming pools, breath-taking waterfalls and more. The Aurora borealis are a once-in-a-lifetime kind of sight for sore eyes – enough to fly halfway around the world in your private jet to experience. Also known as the Northern Lights, the spectacle is an all-natural light show choreographed by the sun and earth’s colliding particles.

How about this – At Hotel Glymur, a high-end chic retreat in Hvalfjordur, you can actually watch the Northern Lights while relaxing in your very own geothermal hottub. That’s a tale to come back home with!

Fijian coral reef

Fiji

Last on the list and completing our quick quadrant across the map is the island country of Fiji. April to mid-October is the best time to venture to this archipelago of tropical islands in the Southern Hemisphere. But, we encourage you to plan a bit before you take off. The best time of year to travel to Fiji most likely depends on your interests. For example, if you’re a surfer, you’ll get the biggest breaks and farthest visibility in the winter months. If you prefer to snorkel, plan your trip for the warmer months when the water is a more moderate temperature.
