There’s no denying Las Vegas gets hot. The warmest months of the year are June through September, with July being the hottest with daytime highs averaging 104°F. Monsoonal moisture in September cools down temperatures. The coolest months of the year are in December and January when you might need a light winter coat. Among the most pleasant months are March through early May and September through December.

  • Downtown: The original Glitter Gulch, Downtown is where Las Vegas got its start. It has a big-city feel without the hustle and bustle of the Strip.

  • West Las Vegas: A historic neighborhood northwest of the Strip and “Spaghetti Bowl” (the I-15 and US 95 interchange), West Las Vegas is home to historical clubs and a library with a theater.

Average Housing Costs

House prices are climbing and will continue to rise through 2019. At the time of publication, the median home value in Las Vegas was $260,000. The average rent price for a three-bedroom unit is $1,300 per month.

Things to Do in Las Vegas

  • Hike: Las Vegas has three popular hiking and rock-climbing spots nearby: Mt. Charleston, Red Rock Canyon, and Valley of Fire State Park.
  • First Friday art walk: A monthly art festival in DTLV’s art district, First Friday Las Vegas features local artisans, live music, and food trucks.
  • Container Park: A three-story offbeat shopping center made from shipping containers, Container Park is filled with unique places to eat, boutique shops and live entertainment.
  • Sports: Las Vegas is home to the Vegas Golden Knights of the National Hockey League. In 2020, the Oakland Raiders of the National Football League will relocate to Las Vegas Stadium and be called the Las Vegas Raiders.
